Sad and Happy times

Image
Sad because Rebekah left yesterday. 8 weeks sure does go fast. We hated to see her go. In fact, her dad tried to get her to transfer to The Royal University of Phnom Penh. No go. We were blessed to get to spend the time with her. The Khmers were sorry to see her go as well. Happy because just before Rebekah left, Jason, our oldest son, came in. He got to hug Rebekah just before she left. So, we were thrilled for Jason to get here. He will be here until August 18th. I know that time will go fast too, so we will have to really enjoy every moment. I decided to put one more picture of Evan and Luke on the blog, since I haven't taken any pictures lately. Take care. Know we love you all. Ronda

Evan and Luke's weddings

Image
OK. So Luke and Evan didn't REALLY get married while they were in Cambodia. But they did each get married, twice, during our trip to Siem Reap. We went to the Cambodian Cultural Village where they do cultural dances, dramas, and skits; each depicting a village in a different part of Cambodia. The second picture is of the girl that Luke married twice during the day, and Evan married once. She was the bride in 3 of the 'villages'. Luke got 'married' first during the Cambodian Traditional Wedding I. Luckily for him, he got to sit at a table for the better part of the ceremony(1st picture). Evan got married for the first time in the Cambodian Traditional Wedding Part II. And he ended up on the floor, bowing most of the time. (3rd picture) He was ready to get up and stand when they got to the traditional Khmer dancing part. Of course, when you are the only 2 young white boys in about 200 or so guest; and when you are as big of hams as Luke and Evan are, you have to

Just out playing around Cambodia

Image
While Luke Walvoord and Evan Maynard were here, we spent some time just playing around the country. I already told you a little about the beach. We also went to Siem Reap where we went to Angkor Wat (the first picture is Luke, Evan and Rebekah in front of Angkor Way) as well as several other temples. On the way back from the beach, we stopped in Kirirom and went to a small waterfall. Not too much to see but peaceful and pretty. In my next blog, I will tell you all about both Luke and Evan's wedding! Yes! They both got married while they were here! Much love, Ronda

Evan Maynard and Luke Walvoord are here!

Image
Evan Maynard and Luke Walvoord, from Broken Arrow, OK are here with us now. Both just graduated from high school, for those of you who don't know, and their parents allowed them to come visit us. We are having a great time. The first picture is taken a Sihanoukville, on the coast. Let's just say that we took it pretty easy! Enjoyed just being lazy. The 2nd picture was taken in a coffee shop here in Phnom Penh. As most of you know, Rebekah, our daughter, came the second week of June and will stay until July 30th. She is enjoying being "home". Today, Rebekah, Evan and Luke are out with our students in one of the villages. That should be a good experience for them. Hope you all are well. Know we think of you all often. Much love, Ronda

Graduation

Image
On June 12th, we had our 2nd graduation. Veashna, Sokphea and Chanty graduated. Currently, Chanty is on the Partners In Progress Ship of Life teaching along the Mekong River. Veashna is here in town working on some vocational training for the next few months and Sokphea is deciding which village he will be going to. Ron Downey was able to be here to give the charge from Sunset Bible Institute. It was great to get to know him and look forward to his next visit. We just got back from taking Evan Maynard and Luke Walvoord to the beach. We had a great time of relaxing and playing in the ocean. I'll put up some pictures of that on my next blog. Love to all.
