February Happenings

As is the case with most of the Februaries since we have been here, my parents, Loren and Penny Hollingsworth, come from Thailand.  This year, Dad is teaching I and II Timothy and Titus to our students.
Veasna is translating for him.
On top of teaching the morning class at the school, Dad is also teaching a 9 session class in the evenings which is a survey of the book of Revelation.

As we have a lot of new Christians, this is a scary book for them. And, like in the US, they hear all kinds of things that people say are in Revelation.  So, my sister asked Dad if he would be willing to teach an overview of the book.  You can imagine that with only 9 hours, he has to teach very fast.  Our students at the school are used to teaching like this, but for many of the others, this is a new experience.  They are taking notes fast and furiously!  We are also taping these classes so they will have access to hear it again at a later date.
Also this month, we have 3 new students at the school.

This is our newest student. His name is Tong.  He is only 16 years old, but so far is showing a willingness to study.

I think we have told you before that they way they study at CBI is very different than in their schools, so it is quite difficult when they first come.  Also, they have to do a lot of reading, which the Khmers don't normally do.

It is nice to watch the other students take him under their wing like a little brother and help him.
This is Tee.  (I am giving you phonetic spellings of their names instead of how they would actually spell their names in English)

He has a great smile, although I couldn't get him to smile for this picture.  He is always polite and happy.  He doesn't read really well, but he understands what is being taught and seems quite sharp.
And this is Tola.  Tola actually started last fall and was at the school for about a month and then got sick and ended up at home for a few months.  We are happy that he decided to come back and study again.

Please keep these 3 in your prayers especially.  Pray that they will want to study and learn about God and His Word.  Pray that they will have the endurance and perseverance to stick with it until it gets more comfortable for them.
Also, a few nights ago, we had a baptism at the BEST Center.  Seenuon is one of the dorm students there.  Our cook, also named Seenuon was baptized in December and I think I forgot to mention it since I didn't have pictures.

Please pray for all the Christians here.  Pray that they will have courage to keep walking with God each day.  Pray for us that we will have the wisdom to guide them and help them on that walk.

Also, Bob and Sandy Jackson just arrive here this past weekend.  Bob is teaching Characteristics of Jesus to our students for 3 weeks.  Hopefully, I will get a picture of them before they leave and post it on the next blog.

Our girl student, Seak Cheng, has already had I and II Timothy and Titus but is missing Isaiah, so Rich is teaching her Isaiah in the mornings.  After she finishes Isaiah and Characteristics of Jesus, she will be finished with her studies.

Much love,
Ronda
