CBI Graduation - May 16, 2025

Image
On Wednesday and Thursday, the 14th and 15th, we had Graduates Meetings.  We spent the morning studying with graduates and current students on the Cost of Following Christ.   Wednesday afternoon, they played a Bible game.  And Wednesday night, they meet with the class at the Phnom Penh Church of Christ. Thursday night, we ate pizza and played Uno.  They enjoy all getting together and getting to visit and play and just have fun fellowship. Friday night, we had 2 of our students graduate from CBI.  Both had older siblings who already graduated. Phalim is from Battambang.  Both he and his older sister came because of Sokun and Soklee, our graduates that work in their village.   Sroy is from Kompong Cham province.  Her older sister, Srang is one of our graduates.   Sroy's family couldn't attend as Srang is due with her first baby very soon. Rich always has a CBI graduate give the talk.  He asks the graduates who has touched th...

Another brother in Christ!!

CBI started back again this morning after the Khmer New Year break.   We are so excited that one of the first things we got to do was witness another soul coming to the Lord. Nite started at CBI in December 2023.  I wish you all could meet him.  He has a great smile and is a good student.  A really good kid. He actually started back to Phnom Penh on Saturday, but was in a moto (motorcycle) wreck not far from his village.  He is fine, but his moto isn't.  He had to turn around, take care of his moto, and was able to make it back on Sunday night.  We praise God that he wasn't hurt in the accident. Nite also had the chapel talk this morning on Ephesians 1.   He told me that his parents know nothing about Jesus and that when he was home, he talked to them about his decision to be baptized. Please keep Nite in your prayers.  May he be a faithful servant of the Lord all his life. Rich is now teaching basic Greek to our 6 older stude...

More rejoicing!!!! Two more brothers in Christ!

Two more of our CBI students were baptized tonight!!   They just finished studying the book of Matthew and they have been thinking about all they have been studying for awhile.  Tonight they decided to be baptized. Eang is in the white shirt and Bahn is in the black shirt.   Bahn started at CBI in December 2023.  He has encourage several others to come to CBI from his hometown.   He just taught in chapel this morning.  He was teaching about the apostle Paul.  Part of that talk was on Paul's conversion.   When we arrived at the school, he was telling about why he decided to be baptized and what he had learned about God's Word that made an impact on him. Eang started at CBI in June 2024.  He is a good student.  He is very quiet.  In fact, his name means 'shy'.  (I am just now getting to the point that he will talk to me without ducking his head.) We rejoice with him and his decision. Please keep all our studen...

Rejoice with us!!!

Praise God!!  Aleab decided to dedicate his life to the Lord. Aleab is the nephew of Navy.  We are so excited for his decision.  He has been at CBI for over 2 years now.   His brother is Lymeng, another one of our students. Aleab was raised in Battambang by his grandmother.  Lymeng spent many years at CBI, being raised by Navy. Please keep Aleab in your prayers.  Pray that he will grow in his faith and serve the Lord all his life. As we do almost every month, we had a Ladies Night on March 29th.   They play the funniest games. This one, they were playing soccer (in the house, so mildly).  But they had to wear these blinders on their face so they could only see just a small area of the floor. The other game was a relay.  They had to hit the balloon up, put on a Tshirt and take it off, all the while hitting the balloon to keep it off the floor.   Then they would hand the Tshirt to the next person who did the same.  The ...

International Women's Day, Another Wedding

Image
International Women's Day is March 8th.  The BEST Center always hosts a seminar on that day. This year, Bhee Jirojanakul and his wife Gradtae came from the Soi Somprasong 4 congregation in Bangkok, Thailand.  (The congregation that I attended when I was young).   We were thrilled they were able to come and spend several days with us as they are sweet friends. There were several different groups of people from all over Cambodia.  I think there was about 130-140 people in attendance. (I took this picture before it started; the empty chairs did fill up!) Bhee did a great job teaching.  I always enjoy it when he is preaching while I am in Thailand.  Lunchtime!  Those of us old timers used chairs to sit on and eat!! We enjoyed getting to spend the weekend with Bhee and Gratdae.  Usually we see them in Thailand, but they are busy with work.  Bhee is one of the ministers at Soi 4, so is they are some of the main ones involved in the annual coun...

Jerry Lundy, wedding, and sights around town

Image
Jerry Lundy from Broken Arrow was able to come and teach at CBI for 2 weeks.  He taught on Ephesians. This was his 5th trip to Cambodia.  He also taught one course online to our students during Covid. We are grateful that he is willing to come and share God's Word with our students.  They enjoy getting to hear different teachers and we think it is good for them to hear different teaching styles. Khemrin translated for Jerry while he was here. The class.  (Like students everywhere, the back row fills up first!)   The weekend that Jerry was here, Rich officiated a wedding in Battambang.  Som-ang, the groom, and Kimleang, the bride, now live in Phnom Penh.  They are members of the Capital Church.  She is from Battambang City. Please keep them in your prayers as they start their lives together.  Pray that their faith will grow and be stronger as they work together for the Lord. Just a note:  while we were there, we stayed in the Classy Hotel...
