NEW STUDENTS!!

Image
The last blog I wrote about our new students, but now we have more!!!  In fact, if we weren't full, we could have several more.  Wondering where all these kids are going to sleep is a great problem to have! Rich took their pictures, so I will share them with you.  Please keep all of them in your prayers.   Like I said, I mentioned some of them in the last blog.  Seyha - he is from Battambang. He is 19 years old.  His older sister and brother are graduates from CBI.  His family worships in the village of Romchek in the church that 2 of our graduates, Sokun and Soklee, started there. Neera - (I am going to give you my phonetic spelling of their names instead of how they spell their names in English letters.  I almost always say their names wrong if I go by their Enligh spelling.) Neera is also from Battambang and is 18 years old.  She is a cousin to our student, Teang. (I don't think Rich was too worried about how good the pictures w...

Just Random Stuff

We have a 2 week break from school for the Pchum Bunh holiday.  We will start back to school this Monday, September 29th. The best news is that last Sunday, Rebekah was baptized.  She is Channy and Kai's daughter.  Channy is one of the preachers here in Phnom Penh.  Rebekah is 14 years old.  (Channy is in the white shirt.) Please keep her in your prayers as she begins her life with her Lord. (Sadly, I didn't get a good picture after her baptism. )  This picture was taken on the last day of school before the break.   Standing:  Lymeng in front of Rich. Teang, Vicheka, Sraynu, Aleab, Bahn, Rota and Ratana(both new students), Khemrin, our teacher, in the red, Nite, Seyha and Hong (new students) and Eang. Sitting:  Neera, Kai, and Soupoun - all new students, Sokray and Sahmate (new student) We pray that they will all return and continue to grow in their knowledge of God and His word. Rich and I took a few days last week to get out of t...

6 New Students

Image
I wanted to let you know that we received 6 new students from Battambang province at the school yesterday.  (There is another one but he was sick so didn't come now) They have all taken their 12th grade exit exam but haven't received the results.  Rich thought it would be good for them to come for this short 2 week class to get a feel for the school.  At CBI, they have to read a lot more and the studying is more intense than what they do in high school.  If their motivation is only to come to Phnom Penh because the big city is 'cool', they likely won't stick it out.   Starting September 15th, the school will be on break for 2 weeks for the Pchum Benh Holiday.  So they will be with us for 2 weeks and then go home for 2 weeks.  We hope they will all choose to come back and study with us. All of these new students come from Sokun and Soklee's village or area.  Some of them are already Christians which is exciting!  It is great to see ...

Ladies Night with Baby Shower and the beach

Image
July 26th, we had another Ladies Night.  This one was especially fun because it included a baby shower.   Seyha (dad) and Kimlin (mom)'s baby was due soon, so we wanted to have a small shower for her. It was perfectly timed as their sweet baby boy was born the next day!!   She is now in the village with Seyha's family so that they can help her with the baby. (Her mom is not living.) And prayers were answered; Seyha has been out of  work for some time.  We found out tonight that he has a new job and starts tomorrow.  Thanks so much for God for His blessings. This is the group of us. We started the night by singing praises to God.   It is so sweet to hear them sing praise to the God that they didn't even know a few years ago.  Please keep them all in your prayers for strength and that their faith might grow strong in the Lord. A week ago, a group from the Church of Christ in the Capitol, Phnom Penh (long name - I just say the Cap...

Back home in Cambodia.

Image
We are back home in Cambodia now.  We had a wonderful trip to the US! But, before we left, we spent the last weekend in a village with Borey, one of our graduates, and his wife, Phaney and their children.  He started this congregation by  himself.  After awhile, he converted his mom.  But for a long time, he didn't have any other people responding.   Now you can see that they have a thriving congregation due to his perseverance. There are several Christians in Phnom Penh now that came from this village.  They now live in the city and are an encouragement to the church here. This was the Bible class on Sunday, May 25th. This is some of the teenagers that hung around with us that Borey teaches. Please keep Borey and Phaney in your prayers as they continue to work.   Not in this picture is their new baby daughter that wasn't even a month old. His sons that are standing with us in the picture are Ratanak and Noah.  Their daughter's name...

CBI Graduation - May 16, 2025

Image
On Wednesday and Thursday, the 14th and 15th, we had Graduates Meetings.  We spent the morning studying with graduates and current students on the Cost of Following Christ.   Wednesday afternoon, they played a Bible game.  And Wednesday night, they meet with the class at the Phnom Penh Church of Christ. Thursday night, we ate pizza and played Uno.  They enjoy all getting together and getting to visit and play and just have fun fellowship. Friday night, we had 2 of our students graduate from CBI.  Both had older siblings who already graduated. Phalim is from Battambang.  Both he and his older sister came because of Sokun and Soklee, our graduates that work in their village.   Sroy is from Kompong Cham province.  Her older sister, Srang is one of our graduates.   Sroy's family couldn't attend as Srang is due with her first baby very soon. Rich always has a CBI graduate give the talk.  He asks the graduates who has touched th...
