Evangelism in Battambang Province

We had an Evangelism week last week.  During these weeks, the students are divided into 2 groups - half going with Veasna and half with Rich.
Veasna's group went to a different village each day.  Rich's group went to Battambang Monday through Wednesday (since it is over a 5 hour drive).  Then on Thursday and Friday, they went to a couple different congregations in the city.

I was able to go to Battambang as well.  So here are some pictures of the Battambang trip.  This first picture is of us and the 6 students
with us when we stopped to eat along with way outside of the city of Chnang.

After arriving at Sokun's house in Battambang, a seller of clams came by, so here is Ponleu and Sothary munching away on clams.

Sophea, one of the students that came with us, is from  Battambang, so he and another student, Makara, stayed the nights at his house.  The rest of us stayed at Sokun's.  In fact, Ponleu slept in the hammock that Sothary is sitting on in this picture.
On Monday, we walked around the village inviting people to come the next morning to hear God's Word.
Here are some of the kids ready to listen to the  Bible story that Seakcheng and Sothary tell them.
This is Sokun.  And this is his house.  He and his wife have one son that is a 2 years old.  Sokun graduated from our school several years ago and since that time, he and Soklee have been working together in this place.
It is always fun to get to see our graduates and visit with them.  Sokun and Soklee have done a good job of teaching, being a part of the village and helping when they can.  They are well received.  We met the village chief in this village as well as another village where we taught the next day.
We started out in the morning all together.  This is Sophea leading some songs.
Along with the Bible stories, there was some play time and some games for the kids.

For the 2nd part of the time, we divided the adults into those who were already Christians...
and those who were not yet Christians.
And, what is a trip without car trouble??  We decided to go into Battambang City in the early evening since most of the students with us had never been there.
We had barely pulled out on the highway and we blew a tire.  We limped to a little shop on the side of the road and got the spare on, only to find out that it had a bubble on it.  So we drove slowly into the city and went straight to a tire place.  Then, because the rims were slightly different sizes, we had to rotate the tires as the front left side was scraping every time Rich turned left.
The next day, we went to another village that is very close.  These are the kids that met us there.  Sokun teaches some English to kids in this village, so they were excited to try out their English.
Ponleu is teaching the adults.  They are always so sweet and bring us chairs so that we don't have to sit on the ground.
This is Soklee who works with Sokun.  He taught the adults on the 2nd day.
We are thrilled with the job that they are doing in Battambang, but we do miss not getting to see them very much.
And this is just another picture of the kids as we were leaving.
Please keep Sokun and his family, as well as Soklee in your prayers as they teach to these 2 villages.

Much love,
Ronda

PS.  I will have to confess that Rich and I cheated a bit and took an air mattress that we got when we went to camp and used it at Sokun's house instead of sleeping on the mat on the wood.  We slept much better!  We just aren't used to sleeping on wood.
