New Student, New Students teaching, Holiday coming

First I want to introduce you to our new student.  His name is Vatana and he is from Battambang province and the village where are graduates Sokun and Soklee are working.

Sokun called Rich and said he had a boy who just wants to be a preacher.  He is only 16 years old.

So now we have two students with the name Vatana and also one named Ratana.  Not confusing at all!

He is really sweet.  He is struggling a bit like they all do because studying at CBI is much harder than their schools.  But he is hanging in there!





Some of our newer students have begun giving the chapel talks.  

This is Piset.








Sokmony.  He goes by Mony.
This is Rotha.  

(Obviously, Rich and I sit on the side, so the pictures aren't great.  But I didn't want to embarrass them by getting up and taking a picture head on.)
This is Ratana.

He has really taken Vatana II under his wing since Vatana has been at the school.  It is appreciated.
And this is Seyha.  

Again, he is the 3rd member of his family to come to CBI.














We have a split chapel on Tuesdays, so all the girls meet together.  
Sokkhai (goes by Khai), the 2nd from the left, was teaching a week ago.  It was her first time.

This past Tuesday, Samate taught.  However, I was sitting right next to her, too close to get a picture.



Please keep all our students in your prayers as they continue to learn God's Word.  Pray that they will put it in their hearts, not just in their minds and allow it to affect their lives.

We have one more week of school before the Khmer (Cambodian) New Year.  They will be out after they student on April 10th until April 21st.  
Please keep them in your prayers as they travel home.  Especially as many of them are going home to families that aren't Christians.  This holiday has a lot of Buddhist traditions involved with it, so please pray that they remember what they have learned and stand strong for the Lord.





I  thought you might like this.  Many times, the Khmers wear Tshirts with English writing but they have no idea what it means.

I am quite sure that this man has no idea what Quiche is!

God is truly amazing and show us His glory and blessings all the time!

6 New Students

 I wanted to let you know that we received 6 new students from Battambang province at the school yesterday.  (There is another one but he was sick so didn't come now) They have all taken their 12th grade exit exam but haven't received the results.  Rich thought it would be good for them to come for this short 2 week class to get a feel for the school.  At CBI, they have to read a lot more and the studying is more intense than what they do in high school.  If their motivation is only to come to Phnom Penh because the big city is 'cool', they likely won't stick it out.   Starting September 15th, the school will be on break for 2 weeks for the Pchum Benh Holiday.  So they will be with us for 2 weeks and then go home for 2 weeks.  We hope they will all choose to come back and study with us. All of these new students come from Sokun and Soklee's village or area.  Some of them are already Christians which is exciting!  It is great to see ...

Back home in Cambodia.

We are back home in Cambodia now.  We had a wonderful trip to the US! But, before we left, we spent the last weekend in a village with Borey, one of our graduates, and his wife, Phaney and their children.  He started this congregation by  himself.  After awhile, he converted his mom.  But for a long time, he didn't have any other people responding.   Now you can see that they have a thriving congregation due to his perseverance. There are several Christians in Phnom Penh now that came from this village.  They now live in the city and are an encouragement to the church here. This was the Bible class on Sunday, May 25th. This is some of the teenagers that hung around with us that Borey teaches. Please keep Borey and Phaney in your prayers as they continue to work.   Not in this picture is their new baby daughter that wasn't even a month old. Ladies Night with Baby Shower and the beach

July 26th, we had another Ladies Night.  This one was especially fun because it included a baby shower.   Seyha (dad) and Kimlin (mom)'s baby was due soon, so we wanted to have a small shower for her. It was perfectly timed as their sweet baby boy was born the next day!!   She is now in the village with Seyha's family so that they can help her with the baby. (Her mom is not living.) And prayers were answered; Seyha has been out of  work for some time.  We found out tonight that he has a new job and starts tomorrow.  Thanks so much for God for His blessings. This is the group of us. We started the night by singing praises to God.   It is so sweet to hear them sing praise to the God that they didn't even know a few years ago.  Please keep them all in your prayers for strength and that their faith might grow strong in the Lord.
