Nation Wide Church Camp

Our nation-wide church camp was Sunday, Nov. 6 through Wednesday morning, Nov. 9th. 

We had 206 campers;it is the biggest group we have had.  We were excited to get to meet together again after missing 2 years due to Covid.

Our theme this year was Handling Conflict in the Church.

This is a picture of our CBI students with a few extras as we were getting ready to leave CBI for camp.  

The camp is in Kompong Speu.  Due to the new highway, it only took a couple hours to get there.

If you notice that everyone has on lanyards.  We are in work crews by color.  The boys in this picture are two of our students, Buntheoun and Phalim, on food prep.

Every day there were soccer games during the free time.  Here is some of our group getting ready to cheer on (the girls) or play (the boys).  They are wearing our new CBI soccer shirts.

Funny thing, on Tuesday, they let 2 teams of girls play.  They moved one goal to almost midfield (the field is small anyway) because "the girls aren't able to run the full field".  I asked, and this is the answer.  Our girls didn't play although I know that they have played the BEST Center girls in Phnom Penh.

This is the entire group.  We had a great group and it was such a blessing to get together to sing, worship and be together after 2 years.


These are some of our graduates that are now preaching in their villages.

Piset, Borey, (Rich), Kakada, Chouern, Sokun, Soklee, and Nuon.  It was great to get to spend some time with them!

This is my favorite breakfast!

Rice with pork, eggs, and then a vegetable mix.  The fruit is white and red dragon fruit.

Avy, the cook, even saved me some of the leftovers for later.

And as Rich started off the camp, Khemrin, who works with Rich and teaches at CBI, had the last lesson.

As I mentioned, we were on work crews.  Three times a day, your group either were on:

- dish washing

- food preparation and serving

- cleaning bathrooms

- trash detail

Rich and I were in the orange group, who won the award for the BEST GROUP!!!!  Woohoo!

This is part of our group riding the "trash truck".  We gathered trash from all over the camp and then we rode on this cart out to the dump.


This is my class.  I had the "old" women; age 30 and over.  My class changed a bit because there were several of this age that were teaching on different days.

These are sweet ladies that I wish you all could know.

This is the cafeteria.  They put these green mats on the concrete floor.  Everyone takes off their shoes at the end of the mats and then files in.  


This is our CBI students, along with Khemrin, Navy and their daughter Nahkin.  We love these sweet kids.  Keep them in your prayers that they may serve the Lord all of their lives.

Pray for us that we will be the examples that they need to help in their walk.

Loren Hollingsworth

As many of you know, my dad, Loren Hollingsworth, got to meet his Lord face to face on April 7th.  He fought the good fight and he finished the course.  Praise God for His perfect promises! The last blog I wrote said that my parents arrived in Phnom Penh the day before; that was Feb. 1st.  Dad was to teach for 2 weeks at CBI and then just have the other 2 weeks in Cambodia to rest, visit with us, and study for the next classes he was teaching in Thailand when they returned.  God had a better plan. Dad taught the first week at CBI.  Then Saturday, Feb. 10th, he had a series of mini strokes while we were out eating.  He ended up in ICU in Phnom Penh for 4 days and then back at our house for 5 days to make sure he could fly.  The doctor would only let him make the 1 hour flight to Thailand to see doctors there (instead of 30 plus hours of flying back to the US).   Dad, Mom and I came to Bangkok on Feb. 19th.  During the 3 1/2 weeks we were there, Dad was in the hospital 2 more times.  His

Our US Trip schedule

  I will get to our US schedule, but first I wanted to let you know about the Camp Chaam in Thailand.  The theme this year was Face To Face.  It centered on how Biblical people reacted when they came face to face with God and applying those examples to our lives.  Men like Moses, Elijah, Daniel, etc. Rich taught the adult classes on Habakkuk.  The camp from from the night of April 12 through the night of April 15th, with most people leaving the morning of the 16th.   Rich taught each morning for an hour right before lunch.  He got a couple comments on how he was a good one to teach right before lunch, when everyone was getting hungry, because he was easy to listen to. Glome, one of the ministers at the Soi Somprasong 4 congregation in Bangkok was his translator.  This is the congregation that I grew up in. Camp Chaam is during the Thai New Year, which is also the Khmer New Year, so CBI is out.  This year, we took Khemrin, Navy, and their daughter Nakeen to the camp in Thailand with us.

Our house

 I thought since my last post was about our street, I would show you our house.  (I don't think I have posted that before).  We live in a ផ្ទះល្វេង translated is a 'long house'.  Land here is extremely expensive but labor is cheap; so you buy a small plot and build up.  Our house is skinny and tall.  Each floor has 2 rooms and bathrooms. We'll start at the street.   As you can see, our gate sits right on the street.  Our street is the main street through the neighborhood. This is the repairman, wearing a motorcycle helmet with face shield, while he welds the new part on the bottom of our gate. (Isn't that regulation eyewear for welding??) You can see our new incline, so that we can get the truck and motorcycle in and out.  Before, it was too steep.   This is the area between the gate and the "front doors".  The doors are accordion style so that we can open them up all up and get the truck out.
