FUN PICTURES FROM CAMBODIA


Sorry, but Ronda's still gone. Since I have full power over the blog (but not much time to do it), I can put on whatever I want.   Here is a collection of just a few of my favorite pictures from here. You may have seen these before. If so, consider this to be like a re-run of your favorite TV show.




First up, the normal family outing on the moto. This is a Khmer version of the mini-van. How many heads do you count?








Next up is the sign by our first house. We thought it must be a poor translation or a place to help the poor. But, no, it's exactly what it says it is. Yes, Virgina, it's the Khmer version of a funeral home. Notice all the words. 











Last, but not least, a picture of our van parked in the dining room/garage.  Notice the clothes dryer on the left side of the picture.

I use to attend church at North Heights in Batesville, AR. That is how I became familiar with your work. I have been faithfully following your blog for the past year or so and enjoy reading about your work. This post did bring a huge smile to my face. The pics are great. Thanks Rich for posting them!

Marriage Seminar in Singapore

 May 1st and 2nd, Rich and I traveled to Singapore to do a marriage seminar for the Lavendar Church of Christ.  The Lavendar congregation supports several of our graduates in the village who are preaching. They told us that there hasn't been a seminar like this before in Singapore.  But they also wanted the group to be small, so they limited it to couples with children 12 years old or less.   As May 1st was a holiday, one of the other congregations had a Men's Retreat, so that took out couples from their congregation.   We taught on the Bible passages as well as Biblical examples.  Then we also talked about communication, conflict and the importance of knowing the needs of your spouse.  We had lecture time, split men and women's sessions, and then a couple of times, we had each couple meet together to talk.  We didn't have very many (some were hesitant because they had never heard of this), but we received good feedback. Valentines Day and back in Phnom Penh

On Valentines Day, some of the couples from the Capitol Church of Christ took a trip to Sray Ambel.   We had a wonderful devotional and day of fellowship and fun.  They grilled seafood for lunch that was delicious. Basically we had a great time together, enjoying the beauty of God's creation at the sea, not to mention enjoying being out of the concrete and busyness of the city. The weather was great.  The ocean is always refreshing!  A wonderful day with our Christian brothers and sisters. Just some sights around town. On March 2nd, I was walking to the post office to mail birthday postcards and this group came down the street. The police even blocked off traffic for them. There were probably 6-7 trucks as well as people walking beside. It is part of the Chinese New Year.  Rich saw some more yesterday even. Zoo, Wedding and Wires

January 7th was  National Genocide Day.  In the past, we have taken students to Toul Sleng, which is the high school that Pol Pot took over and used as a prison camp during the Khmer Rouge between 1974-1979. But this year, since some of our older students have already been to Toul Sleng, we decided to go to the zoo.   Here is part of the group with Rich mimicking the poses of our girl students.  The zoo is small but it was nice just to get out and walk around in the woods (instead of the usual concrete streets).   This is the place we gathered for lunch.  You are allowed to bring in your own food and drinks, so Navy prepared food for us. This is: Eang, Vatana, Rich, Neath (pronounced 'Nite') and Phorn (pronounced 'Poan') Lymeng (who will be graduating on January 31st), Ratana, Piset, and Rotha (pronounced 'Rota') Mony (busy eating), Sraynu, Savy, and Neera Sokray, Khai, Samathe, and Seyha At the zoo, there are monkeys everywhere.
