December in Cambodia

We were blessed during the month of December to have Rich's mom, Glenda and his grandmother, Billie Howell, here with us.  Then, on Dec 20th, our son, Reuben and his wife Emily came. So here are some of the sights that they saw while they were here.

This is the traffic by the temple near our house.  There was a wedding on the other side so it was blocked, making everyone go around this way.
This picture was taken on the other side of the river from Phnom Penh.  These are fishing boats as well as the houses for the fisherman.  Just behind me is a huge 5 star hotel that they are building.  Such a contrast of lifestyles.
This was December 27th at the airport when Rich's mom and Grandmother were leaving.  (Obviously, these pictures aren't in order).  And yes, that is the Dairy Queen behind us.  They only have some ice cream and hot dogs, but we still enjoy it.
As is our custom, we spent Christmas at the coast.  This is one of the beautiful sunsets God allowed us to enjoy.  It is always so relaxing to get to go to the beach; to be able to get out of the busyness and noise of the city.  And since Rich's mom, grandmother, Reuben and Emily were with us, it was that much more enjoyable.
This is actually Christmas Day.  We took a boat out to this island and then did a little snorkeling as well.
After Glenda and Billie left, we took Reuben and Emily to Siem Reap.  This was Emily's first time in Asia, so we wanted to show her around.  This is Reuben and I by one of the trees at Ta Nei Temple.
Just some more sights.  This particular temple was building in the 900s.  So these images have been here for awhile!
And, of course, you have your token elephants.
This is us in front of Angkor Wat in Siem Reap.
And this is Rich and Reuben in on the steps to one of the baths that is in Angkor Wat.
Not a great picture, but we did explore a few more temple in other parts of the area.  This is one that we particularly enjoyed.  So, Reuben and Emily did ride an elephant, they just didn't have to pay...and it didn't go anywhere.

Hope you enjoyed the pictures.  And we hope that your Christmas was very merry and the 2014 New Year has started out great.

Right now, Ray Hull and his wife Karren are here.  Ray is teaching Matthew in the mornings at the school, while Rich is teaching the Cross of Christ in the afternoons.  They also brought Brittani, their cousin.  She is teaching English at the BEST Center during this month.  Their daughter, Ginger, is coming in today, but will only be able to stay for 4 days.

Please keep our students and graduates in your prayers as they work to spread God's Word in this place.
Much love, Ronda
