A nice break

Rich gave his final on Thursday, Sept 10th at CBI.  As the next week is one of the major holidays here in Cambodia, we had a some time to relax at the beach.

This first picture is from the beach area looking north.  Probably only about 2 of those tall buildings were there 2 1/2 years ago.  The Chinese came in (the government sold the land to them) and set up casinos.  However, now the laws have been changed and there is no online gambling, so many of these buildings are sitting empty and/or half built.  It has been really difficult on the Khmers that live here.

But as much as people mess up the land, we were able to enjoy God's handiwork in the sunsets.

Since there are no tourist visas being given now, there are...yes, you guessed it...no tourists!  Which is really nice for us.  (Not good for the Khmers however).

We got to enjoy several days on the beach, just relaxing, swimming and watching the storms roll in.

This is the beach area that Rich and I walked down every morning.
I thought you might enjoy this sign.  Notice the spelling.  Do you have a "Yatch" club?

Also, almost all of the signs in the beach areas are in Khmer (Cambodian) and Chinese.  Almost no signs in English.  They used to be in Khmer and English.  On the highway, there were many signs in Chinese and Khmer only as well.

Rich came back to Phnom Penh on Monday the 14th. He needed to work on the new class he will be teaching after the holiday.  However, Julie, my sister, wanted to get out of the city as well.  So I suffered (Ha!) and stayed at the beach and she came down on the Monday that Rich left.

We stayed until Thursday morning, the 17th and enjoyed God's beautiful creation for a few more days.

Notice how nice and calm the water is?  After this storm rolled in, we had the best time playing in the big waves!

It had been 2 1/2 years since we made the trip down.  This trip was a wonderful time of relaxation and just unwinding.

We are now back home. CBI will start back on Tuesday, the 22nd.  Please keep our students in your prayers as they travel back to the city and begin a new class.  Pray that their hearts and minds will be open to God's Word.  Please also keep Rich in your prayers as he teaches.

Much love,

Ronda

This looks like the beach that I visited with you and Rich and Randall and his family in 2015. If so, those buildings ARE a big change. Beautiful, peaceful place ...

AWWWWW, I wish I was there with you. Love the sunset and beach pictures, not so much the casinos. So stupid. Love you. Glad you had a great birthday vacation.

Greg, that is the same beach. It looks very different now. No restaurants on the beach, no chairs allowed on the beach, a big road between the hotels and the beach and all those massive building; many of which are only half completed. Kind of like the man who went to build a tower and ran out of money.
