Welcome to rainy season!!!

During language school today, it started pouring! Lots of thunder and lightening; it was really great! (In case you don't know, I love storms!) It had already rained once today...no big deal, but I did bring in the laundry from the line and close the downstairs windows, so I was pleased that it was all taken care of.

Then, we got home... I had forgot to close the windows in the extra bedroom - the floor was flooded. The wind had really blown and shot the rain right in the windows even though there is an overhang. So Rebekah and I mopped and squeegied and finally got it cleaned up. Then she went to another room. The windows were closed but since the rain blew so hard, it blew the water in under the windows and under the door frame - another flooded room.

To make an long, wet story short, it took us an hour to clean up all the water in the house. We got that cleaned up just in time to go to some of the other missionaries' house for dinner. It is about a 30 minute drive (normally). We left the house at about 5:40 pm and finally got to their house at 7:15pm. There was a huge traffic jam, so our tuk-tuk driver turned around and went another way. Obviously, it wasn't much better! But we finally made it and had some wonderful Chicken curry. Just fun experiences in our daily lives!!

Hope you all are well...and dry.
Ronda

I'm glad to see you still said "some fun experiences". Glad those experiences are not getting in the way of enjoying your new surroundings!

Without those stories we would all be very, dull people with no funny stories to tell our grandchildren. Sounds like you all are going to have enough stories to fill a book.
I looked at google earth to get a closer glance at the city. It looks really beautiful and clean from the pictures. One of the pictures showed what Rich was talking about the driving situation. A car was driving across the center median line with approaching traffic. Exciting!
It is getting hot again here (upper 80's-low 90's)
I will have Chad get on and give Rich some play by plays on the better football games.
Take Care,
Donna
Ronda, so thankful that you finally got your computer. Did you get a camera earlier? I like the pictures and all the stories of your experiences. Brings back lots of early memories. Ha! I sent your blog address to Ken and Jean so they could enjoy it also. We have snow in our mountains (its called termination dust as the summer is now offically terminated. Its beautiful but its getting cold. You would be freezing. Talked to Randall on his birthday and he had gotten his card & check on his birthday from us. I think that is a first! Right on time. Love and prayers, Mom and Dad
