Rich and Ronda Dolan

 We were able to run across the border this past weekend and do some teaching for the church there. They were all very kind and seemed eager to learn more. Saturday morning, we took a taxi for about 45 minutes to the other side of the city before then taking motos on to the place where we met.  As you can see in the 3rd picture, we wore facemasks (lots of the people here wear them - usually for air pollution) along with the helmets so that we didn't stand out quite so much (not so much white skin showing).  I didn't see any other foreigners in the part of the city that the church meets; whereas there are a lot of foreigners/tourist in the part of the city where we stayed.  Once we were in the house where we met, we did not go back outside until time to leave.  And even then, we put on our masks and helmets before going out of the house. We have attended 5 weddings since the first of the year and we hope they are finally finished for awhile. Paul talked about being all things to all people...well, I don't think he meant it this way, but our last couple weddings, we were that, as we were singers and acting parents. The first picture is Rich and I singing "Angry Words" that had been translated into Khmer (the language here). I didn't have time to translate it so Cheav, one of our graduates did. The 2nd picture is Rich and I with another wedding party. At this wedding, Rich and I were Nuan, the groom's parents, as his parents are deceased. We laughed about whether he "looked like his dad or mom". The last picture is part of the dinner after Nuan and Way's wedding. With the pig, we had grilled fish, some chicken, and then of course, lots of rice and vegetables. We were thrilled that Dad and Mom, Loren and Penny Hollingsworth, got to spend some time with us. Dad taught Daniel to our students at the school. As most of you know, they moved (along with all of us kids) to Thailand in September 1973 and have been missionaries there every since. For the last 6 or 7 years, they spend about 7 or 8 months in Palmer, Alaska and then 3 or 4 months in Thailand and another month here, helping us. It is always great to have them here. Since Dad was teaching Daniel, and that is a little difficult book for our beginning students, Veashna, one of our graduates taught the new students an Old Testament Survey class. The first picture is Dad and Mom and the 2nd picture is Rich and I with them. We were at the airport waiting for Mom's plane to leave. She left on Monday, Feb 27th to head back to Alaska. On Saturday, Feb. 18th, my sister, Julie Broyles and her staff at the BEST Center organized a Ladies Day. Shirley Downey, Sandy Jackson and Nita Mansholt taught the 45 ladies that attended. Shirley Downey taught on Ruth and the faithful woman that she was. Sandy Jackson taught on Mary, Jesus' mother and the lessons we can learn from her willingness to be God's servant. Then Nita Mansholt taught on Peace and how we, as women today can have God's peace in our lives. All three did a great job. They were especially sweet to me by forwarding detailed notes to me so that I could make sure to know the words in order to translate their lessons into the Khmer language. We had a wonderful turnout. The 3rd picture is of half of the room. After the lessons, we all ate lunch together and enjoy some sisterly fellowship. Our students started a congregation in a new village. There were 18 baptisms at this place on Sunday!! God's Word is spreading and we are so grateful to be part of the process in this place. We also are extremely grateful to so many of you for your part in the work here. love, Ronda
