Srae Ambel Church Camp - Day 2

The 2nd day of camp was our first full day.
This is Sokun, one of our graduates, and his son.  Sokun, as well as several of our other graduates, like in the Battambang area.  They are doing a great job leading the church in their village.
And, at 6:30 in the morning, Sharon Welch and I were cleaning the bathrooms.  It was our group's turn.
I meant to get a picture of the guys and girls shower area, but didn't.  For the girls shower area, there was a tarp wrapped around 4 wooden poles, about 4 foot square.  Inside was 2 plastic tubs, like the one in this picture, that were filled with water.  And of course you had your dipper, so that you could splash water on yourself, wash up, and then rinse off.
On this day, I taught the married women.  My topic was Husband/Wife Relationships.
The next day, I taught the unmarried ladies.  My topic for them was Importance of Choosing a Good Husband, and then Appreciation/Affection/ and Spending Time Together in Marriage.
This is a picture at lunchtime. Everyone just sat wherever and enjoyed time together.
One of the activities on Day 2 was to put Bible verses together as fast as possible.  This is Rich and his group.
And again, I so enjoyed being by the sea and getting to see the beauty that God gave to us.
We were also rewarded with some wonderful clouds.
This is 3 of our students.  Sophea and Rong are standing and Kimsrouen is in front.
More fantastic clouds.  We thought we were going to get rain again, but it moved right past us to the west.
This is SeakCheng.  She is also one of our students.  The Khmers love to have pictures taken of them; and they love posing for them.

More beautiful clouds.  This was as the sun was setting.  It was just gorgeous!

The sun sets here around 6-6:30 year round.  As we are nearly on the equator, we don't have much time difference during the year.
Rich's topic for this night was Handling Stress in your Marriage.

One of this illustrations was having Tola, one of our CBI graduates, being pulled by Boreat, Samrach, and Chann.  Of course, it is a  physical example of what stress is like in our lives, being pulled in all directions.
Another illustration was having 3 guys stand in front.  to Kimsrouen, he told him he would give him 10,000 riel (equal to $2.50) if he could quote the verses that we used in the game earlier in 30 seconds.  He couldn't.  Rong was to give the 12 points that Rich made the night before in 45 seconds. He didn't even try.  And Hout was to tell the 6 main points of a strong marriage.  But Hout got a couple minutes and he got to ask for help.
The illustration being that things are hard to do when you feel stressed.  Sometimes you try but just can't do it.  Sometimes you know you can't do it and don't try.  (By the way, this was the natural response by these guys.  Rich didn't coach them to do it). And lastly, if you have a little time and help, it enables you to cope with the stress.
Rich gave them some things to do to help with the stress in their lives from the Bible.
And, that was Day #2.
No rain...no wet tents.
Much love, Ronda
