We made it!! And other odds and ends

We have electricity!  We went 2 months with the electricity out either for 3 hours in the morning or 5 hours in the afternoon (every other day), with the exception of weekends and holidays.

This is our hottest time of year.  It isn't the hottest hot season we have had but every day was somewhere around 109-111 F heat index.  When you live near the equator, the sun is very direct; it feels much hotter than 110 in the US.

We also had about a week of very little water.  However we have had some rains and for the last week, we have had electricity all the time.  The heat index is still high - 109 F right now, but since we have had a couple rains, it knocked the temperatures down for a day or two.  We haven't had rain in a couple days, so we hope we have more soon.

What does all that have to do with this picture?  Nothing!  This is Nakhin, daughter of Navy and Khermin.  She was born April 26th.  As you may remember, Navy was the wife of Tawn, our coworker when we first came to Cambodia.  He died after we had been here for 3 years.  He and Navy were never able to have children.
A couple years ago, Khemrin, one of our graduates and Navy were married.  And now God has blessed them with this precious baby girl.  I get holding duties every morning during chapel!

Do your BMWs look like ours?  I saw this truck when I was walking home from the school.  I don't think he if fooling anyone.  Ha!
On Tues and Wed, May 14th and 15th, we had Graduate Meetings.  Because Navy just had her baby, I did all the food and therefore was not able to listen to the speakers this time.  However, we had a good turnout.

I did not fix this.  One of our students brought this.  These crabs came from a plastic container filled with these small crabs, limes, and spices.  I don't know how long they "marinated", but they would just pick them out and start crunching on the shells and sucking the meat out.
I have to say, they didn't look that appetizing to me, but the students liked them.
This past weekend, we got to do a couple things out of the ordinary for us.
Saturday night, we went over to Jase and Bekah Allen's house to watch their 3 kids so they could have a night out.

This picture is of Judah, who is 2; Vera, who is 4 months old and Rich.  Margo, who is Vera's twin, was already upstairs asleep.  We always enjoy cuddling babies and playing with the sweet little ones.
Then on Sunday afternoon, instead of meeting with the University congregation, we went out to the Northwest part of the city and met with the Sen Sok congregation.

I tried to get a picture during services, but the light wouldn't let me get a good one, but here are some of the children who attended.  This congregation is largely children, as Sophy runs a school here.

We enjoyed our time with them. They were sweet and sang with their whole heart.
On our way back to the house (you can see the side of Rich's motorcycle helmet and shoulder), we passed this truck with 4 water buffaloes in it.  Probably not a normal site for you all.

In another week and a half, we are heading stateside.  The schedule is:
May 31-June 7 - Plano, TX
June 7 - 17 - Richmond, VA
June 17-27 - Broken Arrow, Collinsville, Batesville.
We will be in Batesville for Wednesday night, June 19th.
We will be at BA congregation on Sunday morning, the 23rd.  Then we will be at Whispering Hills the evening of the 23rd.
 June 27-July 4 - Houston, TX
July 5th - fly back to Cambodia.

Hope to see many of you soon!
Much love,
Ronda
